Hondo and Fabian

By the same author- illustrator as Jeremy Draws a Monster, this Caldecott winner by Peter McCarty is a humorous take on the differing lives of cats and dogs. Hondo (the dog) gets to go to the beach with his friend, a golden retriever named Fred; Fabian (the cat) has to stay at home with the baby. Hondo dives into the waves; Fabian dives for the door. And so on. Particularly if you like (or better, are amused by the antics of) cats and dogs, this is a very funny book. James loves the photos of the real Hondo and Fabian on the back cover. Giggle factor: high. Adult enjoyment: likely. Illustrations: five jelly jars.
