There Are Cats in This Book

Viviane Schwarz‘s There Are Cats in This Book is currently James’ favorite book to read on the potty – but don’t let that put you off. It is a very silly, interactive, quite funny book with dialogue strikingly similar to Mo WillemsDon’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Here, the cats – Tiny, Moonpie, and Andre – beg your child to turn the page so that they can play with yarn, curl up in cardboard boxes, and torment fish. When they get doused by a fish tank tsunami, they ask your toddler to blow them dry. James LOVES it. Packed with lift-the-flaps to reveal the cats in their various hidey holes, it isn’t so much the actual art in this book that’s appealing; it’s the design. Giggle factor: high. Adult enjoyment: if you like cats. Illustrations: three and a half jelly jars. Want to see for yourself? Watch a quick video of the book on YouTube.
